Practical Information

Below you will find the main logistical information for the conference. The aim is to make planning your stay in Mérida as easy as possible.

Covered expenses

The organizing committee will cover the costs of the venue, coffee breaks, the social activity, and the conference dinner.

Participants will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation.

How to get to Mérida

Mérida, the capital of Yucatán, is accessible by plane, bus, or car. The main airport is Manuel Crescencio Rejón International Airport (MID), located approximately 15 to 25 minutes from the city center.

By plane

  • Direct flights to Mérida (MID) are available from several hubs, especially within Mexico and from some U.S. cities.
  • For international travelers, the most common connections are via Mexico City (MEX) or Cancún (CUN).
Tip: If you arrive in Cancún, reaching Mérida by bus is usually a comfortable and straightforward option.

From Cancún by bus

  • Company: ADO
  • Typical duration: around 4 hours, depending on the service
  • Arrival: ADO terminal in Mérida, close to the city center

From Cancún by car

  • Travel time: approximately 3.5 to 4 hours
  • A toll highway is available and is generally the most convenient option

Local transportation in Mérida

The historic center is quite walkable, and several transportation options are available for moving around the city.

  • Uber and DiDi are widely used and generally reliable
  • Local taxis are also available
  • Va y Ven buses can be used for public transportation, usually with a rechargeable transport card
